Giving Thanks

His Highness and I have been remiss in communicating our thanks and admiration to the groups and individuals with whom we have enjoyed spending time over the past few weeks.

It was my pleasure to attend the Royal University of the Midrealm in the Barony of Ayreton in November.

Through the depth and breadth of classes taught at the Royal University of the Midrealm, it was a delight to witness the wide array of interests and skills of the people living within the Kingdom. The amount and level of knowledge shared within the day is hard to comprehend; some of the learning truly does rival what is offered and taught on modern university campuses across the world. I was happy to attend the Regional Command and the “Are Ewe Period” classes while also having lovely conversations with friends and members of the populace.

At Christmas Tourney this past weekend, the talent of the Kingdom was once again on display in wonderful style from the artisans in the Craftpersons’ Green to the rapier and armored lists. We were delighted to make the acquaintance of new friends from the East while also spending time with long-time friends.

It was particularly delightful to meet so many of the newcomers to the Kingdom and SCA and see the wealth of service shown by the Barony of Flame. We were considerably impressed by the fact that the feast was created and served by members of the populace who had never done this before. The feast was conceptualized, executed, and served impeccably.

Attending events around the Kingdom also allows us to witness the acts of service that so many in our Kingdom undertake to help it grow and thrive. From the newest members to those who have stalwartly continued through the years, it is only through people’s work, interest, and skill that we continue onward in our Society.

Thank you to everyone for sharing your hospitality, your service, your talents, and your joy with us.

In service to the Crown and the Kingdom,

Tsarevna Katalena
